Mr. David Allman works for the Salvation Army and has been actively involved in helping people who have been affected by the “Black Saturday” bushfires. He was interviewed by students in 6W about his work.

Chris Milne said as he read his book to us.

On Wednesday the 25th of February Chris Milne the famous author of Naughty Stories For Good Boys And Girls came to the school to talk to the grade 5s and 6s about writing.

Before Chris became an author he acted in and wrote for neighbours. Chris told us that his ideas came from his kids and when he was in doubt his boys Peter and Robert helped him through it. His boys also gave him ideas and told him stories that he could write down. When he started to write books no one would publish them, so he borrowed money from the bank and did it himself. Chris went to all the book shops and finally after one year of searching, when he was just about to give up, a book store took his books.

Mr Milne has written lots of books and I enjoyed listening to him and afterwards we had a chance to buy his books.

The firefighters continue to do a great job. Our hot Summer is far from over so we made up some cinquain poems in their honour and we’d like to share them with you now.
